In August 2013 Helen is judging the Olive Cotton Award for Photographic Portraiture at Tweed River Art Gallery.

Olive Cotton public lectures

To coincide with the publication of Helen’s Olive Cotton essay in ABR she is giving two public lectures: at the National Library, Canberra on 11 July and the National Gallery of Victoria on 17 August 2013.

ABR/George Hicks fellowship

in News

Helen has been awarded the inaugural Australian Book Review/George Hicks Fellowship to write an essay on Olive Cotton. This will be published in ABR in July 2013.

National Museum public lecture

On 24 June Helen is giving a public lecture about the state of photography in 1913 as part of the Glorious days exhibition program at the National Museum of Australia.

Max Dupain talk

in News

Helen will be speaking about the exhibition Max Dupain on Assignment at the Liverpool City Library on the 21st June.

Peter Blazey Fellowship

in News

In September 2011 Helen was awarded the Peter Blazey Fellowship to support the writing of her biography on Australian photographer Olive Cotton. The fellowship includes a residency at the Australian Centre, University of Melbourne, which Helen has recently completed.

Things opens at NLA

Things: photographing the constructed world opens at the National Library of Australia, Canberra on the 24th November. Guest curated by Helen, the show of over 230 photographs from the NLA’s Pictures collection is on until the 17th of February 2013.
